Overview

Graphic Animator & Designer - Part-Time. KBR’s Mission Engineering Division delivers complex technical solutions and expert support to the U.S. Department of Defense, focusing on modeling and simulation, cyber transformation, air vehicle mission integration, and lifecycle support. The selected candidate will provide graphic animation and design to training materials for MQ-4 Triton flight operators and maintainers, supporting Navy unmanned aviation programs from Patuxent River, MD.

The role offers the opportunity to influence cutting-edge EW capabilities that directly support the warfighter and advance the Navy and Marine Corps’ unmanned aviation mission. Responsibilities

  • Create graphic animations and illustrations for use in technical manuals, courseware, multimedia, and publications in close collaboration with technical writers, engineers, and subject matter experts.
  • Operate computer hardware and software to prepare, revise, print, and store text, illustrations, graphs, charts, etc.
  • Render concept art and technical illustrations from models, sketches, memory, written or verbal instructions, and imagination. Select type, place lettering, lay out material, or perform related duties.
  • Determine style, technique, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and conform to reproduction requirements or follow specific instructions regarding these variables.
  • Convert source files (.AI, .PDF, .PNG, etc.) to a CGM format output.
  • Research, review, and understand technical information and develop procedural information for technical documentation. Translate written requests to visual illustrations and animation through an iterative process, collaboration, relying on end user requirements, engineering data, and subject matter expert input. Maintain flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on mission requirements.

Basic Qualifications

Education & Years of Experience: BS/BA & 2 years of experience OR AA/AS & 6 years of experience OR High School Diploma or GED & 10 years of experience. Additional experience accepted in lieu of formal education.

Technical Skills/Software: Adobe Animate, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator experience. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, 3DS Max, or equivalent experience; 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and animation.

Clearance & Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen. Active Secret clearance with the ability to maintain and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with military technical documents, delivery, and integrated logistics support (ARs, MIL STDs and MIL-PRFs, IETMs, TPDRs, DIDs, etc.). Naval aviation maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with XML integrated graphics (hotspots, etc.) and ASD S1000D process Data Modules.
  • Experience with SDI Editor, VizEx Editor, IsoDraw, SolidWorks and/or Catia.
  • Knowledge of IETM development procedures using S1000D, and DoD MIL-STDs; Document Type Definitions and style sheets for IETMs.
  • Experience with EAGLE Publishing System or NAVAIR Enterprise Common Source Data Base (or equivalent).

Position Details

  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20 hours/week
  • Basic Compensation: $62,000-$93,000 (based on a full-time 40-hour week). Salary range posted is national average; actual offered rate will reflect location, knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, contract affordability, and internal parity.
  • Additional Compensation: Bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation per internal policy or contractual designation. May include sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short/long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
