Event Technician, Audio Visual - Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay
A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic/small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
- Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers, maintain positive relationships with clients through effective communication, meet with guests on site to ensure their needs are met and equipment is working properly, monitor events, and check in on customers throughout the day.
- Technical Ability: Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
- Systems Knowledge: Understand company processes, follow procedures, complete systems entry and paperwork accurately, use equipment sheets to determine equipment scheduled for setup and strike, interact with staff and outside vendors, increase revenue by utilizing floor up-selling techniques, work with clients to finalize invoices, and complete order entries in Navigator as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree preferred.
- Internal applicants must meet/certify training requirements per Encore’s Global Learning Training Program in their current position and for the position applied to.
- External applicants must meet/validate and complete all training and certifications required for this position within one year.
- 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
- 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required for team members who may operate Company vehicles. Additional DOT requirements may apply.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment
Hotel environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand, and dust. Work may vary from moderately quiet to noisy, involves high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components, and may require working at multiple hotel locations with irregular hours, on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Appearance guidelines apply as defined by Encore per hotel representation.
Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $15.09 - $18.49. Compensation is based on qualifications, location, travel, experience, and skills. Some positions may be eligible for overtime, bonuses, or incentives.
