Job Description

Select Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:20 AM-1:50 PM in the Fall and 8:30 AM-11:00 AM in the Spring and occasional Saturdays 9 AM-5 PM. Detailed schedules are supplied at the beginning of each semester.

Duties and responsibilities as presented are representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

Special Requirements

The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If degree award date is not posted on transcript your application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline AND two years of professional experience

OR

Associate degree in any discipline AND six years of professional experience

OR

Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.

OR

The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

Commitment to diversity. All applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of students, faculty and staff. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications

Prior teaching and/or crew leadership experience within theatrical and event lighting.

Strong working knowledge and experience with ETC lighting consoles, lighting networking, and various intelligent lighting fixtures.

Knowledge of show control protocols and system integration.

Experience with DMX peripherals, practical wiring, electrical codes used in the entertainment industry, and maintaining industry best practices.

Experience driving and supervising safe operation of Ariel Work Platforms (AWP) / Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).

Understanding of CTE program objectives with a background in theatrical electrician work at a theme park or entertainment venue.

Experience collaborating with faculty, staff, and community partners to assist historically underrepresented students achieve educational goals.

Salary Range

$1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per lecture unit, $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per lab parity unit, $1,258.16 – $1,380.60 per lab unit

Special Instructions Summary

This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.

This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
