MSNBC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Graphic Designer (Broadcast) to join our creative team. This role focuses on producing high-quality static graphics and motion graphics for daily television shows, elevating MSNBC’s on-air presence with creativity and precision. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced newsroom environment, demonstrates excellent design instincts, and brings advanced skills in broadcast motion design and animation, in addition to static graphics expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver static and motion graphics for MSNBC programs, including lower-thirds, full-screen templates, charts, animations, and editorial visuals.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, editorial staff, and art directors to develop creative solutions that maintain brand consistency while enhancing storytelling.
  • Lead the execution of animated graphics packages and contribute to show branding elements.
  • Adapt graphics and animations quickly in response to breaking news and live programming demands.
  • Mentor junior designers and provide guidance on broadcast graphics workflows and standards.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Maintain organized files, templates, and toolkits to ensure efficient workflows.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as news coverage requires.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of professional design experience in broadcast television, news, or a similar fast-turn environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects); knowledge of Vizrt, Cinema 4D, or similar broadcast/motion graphics systems is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience with motion graphics and animation for broadcast, including title sequences, animated explainers, and transitional elements.
  • Solid understanding of typography, layout, composition, and visual storytelling for television.
  • Ability to remain calm, creative, and resourceful under deadline pressure.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a newsroom or production setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Motion Design, Visual Communication, or related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience).
