Position Description
Position: The University Library is hiring a forward-thinking and collegial Learning and Engagement Librarian with an area of focus on assessment.
Responsibilities: The librarian should collaborate with faculty in teaching and research and engage with students in their first and second years to develop information literacy and research skills aligned with the University's College to Career Competencies Initiative (critical thinking, written/oral communication, digital technology, and global/intra-cultural fluency). In the area of assessment, the librarian manages, collects, and analyzes library services data across all campuses in coordination with campus library staff for planning, internal and external reporting, and decision making.
- Participate in developing innovative instruction techniques, tools, and assessments
- Participate in student and faculty outreach activities throughout the university
- Provide reference service in-person and online
- Create and maintain multimedia web-based information literacy and instructional materials
- Engage and support the faculty, staff, and students' research, teaching, and learning needs
- Design and implement assessment initiatives
- Communicate assessment data to stakeholders
- Perform other duties as assigned
The librarian serves as a member of the library faculty (12-month; non-tenure track), holds faculty rank, and is expected to participate in service activities as outlined in the University Library's faculty guidelines. The library provides professional development opportunities for employees.
Required Experience
No experience is required for entry-level applicants.
Required Education
- Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Experience working in an academic library
- Experience in innovative approaches to reference/research assistance, library instruction and outreach work
- Experience with outreach and/or programming
- Experience teaching or providing library instruction in face-to-face and/or virtual settings
- Experience creating digital learning objects
- Working knowledge of new and emerging technologies
- Proven skills in creating assessment projects, gathering and analyzing data
- Experience in leading assessment efforts and setting up benchmarks

Work Hours
- 40 hours a week
- At least one evening and occasional weekend work may be required

Salary
$58,750-$63,500
