Position Overview
Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager, Communications, Public Relations & Media Relations to join our global communications team. This role will lead proactive and reactive public relations, media engagement, and community relations for one of the world’s most innovative and recognized marine brands.
The Senior Manager will be responsible for shaping Mercury Marine’s global narrative, protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation, and ensuring consistent, high‑impact communications across all markets. This position requires a strategic thinker who is also a hands‑on communicator, able to write compelling content, manage fast‑moving issues, and build strong relationships with media, community leaders, and internal stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Develop and execute integrated public relations and media strategies to strengthen Mercury Marine’s reputation globally.
- Serve as a primary media relations contact for Mercury Marine, Mercury Racing, and Flite, building and maintaining relationships with trade, business, and consumer outlets.
- Draft and edit high‑quality press releases, statements, Q&As, media pitches, and executive talking points.
- Partner closely with Brunswick’s enterprise internal communications team and cross‑divisional leaders to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging.
- Monitor issues and potential crises, provide timely guidance, and support crisis communications planning and execution.
- Oversee community relations initiatives in key markets, including partnerships, sponsorships, and local engagement programs.
- Support corporate events, trade shows, and executive communications.
- Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring communications reflect Mercury Marine’s values, innovation, and customer‑first culture.
- Manage freelancers and vendors as needed to extend capabilities and reach.
- Travel globally to support media events, community initiatives, and enterprise priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; advanced degree a plus.
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media relations.
- Proven ability to develop and execute PR strategies that deliver measurable impact.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience in crisis communications and issue management.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills with media, executives, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, matrixed global organization.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Salary information: The anticipated pay range for this position is $100,900 - $160,800 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job‑related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
