Livestream Operator / Broadcast Operator
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Livestream Operator to manage the technical broadcast operations of our church. This role ensures that worship services and events are accessible, high-quality, and engaging for our online congregation, including those watching from home, hospitals, or while traveling.
This position will start as part-time, focusing on mastering the technical workflows and supporting live services. The role is designed to transition into a full-time position as the digital ministry expands and the scope of streaming operations increases.
The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with a heart for ministry, thrives under live conditions, and enjoys collaborating with pastoral staff, worship leaders, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
- Livestream & Broadcast Operations
- Operate streaming software (Resi, OBS Studio, vMix, ProPresenter, or similar) during live worship services and events.
- Execute scene transitions, scripture graphics, sermon notes, and announcements in real time.
- Monitor audio and video quality throughout services and make necessary adjustments.
- Coordinate with worship leaders and pastoral staff to follow service rundowns accurately.
- Display song lyrics, Bible verses, and sermon points for both in-person and online audiences.
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly during live broadcasts to maintain seamless worship experiences.
- Setup & Technical Maintenance
- Set up, configure, and test all streaming equipment, cameras, and audio connections before services.
- Participate in rehearsals and sound checks to ensure technical readiness.
- Archive sermons and create recordings for the church media library.
- Stream simultaneously to multiple platforms (YouTube, Facebook, church website) efficiently.
- Arrive early on Sundays and special event days for setup and final checks.
- Collaboration & Team Support
- Work closely with volunteers, worship teams, and pastoral staff to ensure smooth service execution.
- Train and mentor volunteers assisting with livestream operations as needed.
- Maintain a calm, solutions-focused approach under the pressure of live broadcasts.
Qualifications & Experience
- 1–3 years experience operating broadcast or streaming software in a church, event, or studio environment.
- Proficiency with OBS Studio, vMix, ProPresenter, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of video codecs, bitrates, streaming protocols, and basic audio/video troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure.
- Heart for ministry and commitment to supporting online worship experiences.
- Availability for Sunday mornings, holidays, and special events (Christmas, Easter, etc.).
- Comfortable working collaboratively with volunteers, staff, and ministry leaders.
Compensation & Schedule
- Starting Status: Part-time position with compensation of $25,000 – $35,000 annually, with the goal of transitioning to full-time as digital ministry grows.
- Work Schedule: Sundays required; flexible weekday hours for setup, rehearsals, and special events.
