Overview

Head of Information Technology & Broadcast – Al Jazeera Media Network (AJMN) is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Head of Information Technology & Broadcast to oversee the availability, operational stability, efficiency, and security of AJMN’s corporate and broadcast infrastructure in Washington, DC, and throughout the Americas.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Broadcast Infrastructure, LAN network, IT systems, and corporate services to ensure seamless operations.
• Lead the department to meet or exceed key performance targets.
• Drive process optimization initiatives across the organization in DC.
• Maintain and implement industry best practices for Technology Operations.
• Leverage emerging technology trends in Broadcast, Digital Products, Networking, Enterprise Systems, Information Security, Service Desk, and Cloud to enhance workplace efficiency and innovation.
• Go above and beyond to sustain world-class operational and editorial experience.
• Uphold and enforce adherence to established processes and documentation standards, as well as meeting business demands in a timely and professional manner in accordance with the agreed-upon OLAs and SLAs. This includes leading, mentoring, evaluating, and developing technology teams.
• Establish relationships with technology partners, which may include suppliers, vendors, service providers, headquarter teams and other regional hubs and teams with diverse backgrounds.
• Ensure that AJMN’s LANs, Systems, Broadcast Systems, Corporate Applications and Datacenter meet the needs of Al Jazeera and are maintained according to world-class standards and efficiency.
• Ensure that IT Operations and Broadcast Operations run well-defined and implemented Service Management processes.
• Manage the operations of infrastructure platforms, including servers, storage, databases, middleware, and networks, as well as applications and systems which directly support the end-user environment.
• Ensure the adoption of effective policies, procedures, tools, techniques and plans relating to systems service level management activities.
• Ensure compliance with organizational, IT, security and architecture policies and standards.

Education

• Bachelor or higher in IT, Broadcast or equivalent field
• Industry certifications such as:
  • Project Management, ideally PMP Certified
  • IT Service Management, ideally ITIL4 Managing Professional / Expert / ISO/IEC 20000
  • Information Security, ideally CISSP / Certified Information Systems Security Professional
  • Operational Excellence and Quality Management, ideally Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Agile Software Development methodologies, ideally SCRUM Product Owner
  • Governance and Data Protection Regulations, ideally COBIT Assessor / OneTrust Privacy Professional

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience within the TV ecosystem, with a strong focus on highly scalable, mission-critical media solutions.
• Deep understanding of technology trends across the Broadcast industry and related fields.
• Ability to drive continuous improvements by integrating new technologies and best practices.
• Bilingual candidates fluent in both English and Arabic are strongly preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 12 years in the relevant domain.
• Minimum 10 years in a News/Sports/Entertainment channel in similar systems.
• At least 6 years in a team lead role.
