How You’ll Contribute

The Director of Engineering is responsible for leadership and development of engineering associates under the Media/WKP Business Unit. The position reports to the Senior Director of Engineering. He or she is accountable for the development, resourcing, implementation, and continuous improvement of the territory’s project engineering team. A thorough, demonstrable understanding of the construction process, systems integration, IT engineering as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications is required. In addition, accountable for ensuring the project engineering team is aligned with the needs of our clients by partnering with sales and PMO. He or she will be accountable to ensure resources are shared across the business unit and the company. This role will work closely with the PMO leaders, Project Ops Leaders, and Sales Enablement leaders in territory as a delivery team. The role is accountable for motivating, mentoring, ability to demonstrate being a student of the business, communicating and navigating.

  • Understanding of project phases: requirements gathering, conceptual designs, detailed designs, fabrication, testing, commissioning, training, and support – and leading a team through the lifecycle.
  • Point of escalation for project engineering. Lead a team through projects that do not meet expectations. Motivate and direct the team to achieve the clients’ goals in an expedited manner.
  • Collaborate with sales and BU leadership to ensure engineering has the skills required to fulfill projects and delight customers.
  • Recruiting, hiring, and training resources to meet project needs.
  • Empower engineering associates to take ownership and accountability of client interactions and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the design of engineering standards and processes; implement with engineering teams and PMO to guarantee client satisfaction and profitable projects.
  • Govern standards through project audits to ensure adherence and consistency in work product.
  • Drive efficiency in project engineering, including innovation and technology; develop standards and procedures to meet quality standards.
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor associates; manage teams designing and deploying large technology projects.
  • Visit clients and client sites to develop relationships and gather information for project fulfillment.
  • Ensure career pathing and associated training opportunities for associates.
  • Break down silos, build bridges among groups, and promote an inclusive one-company mindset.
  • Facilitate resource sharing across territories and business units; ensure cross-training in necessary systems and tools.
  • Manage resource assignments and load balancing to cover projects; collaborate with resource planning/PMO to meet deadlines.
  • Drive risk assessment analysis; hold leaders and managers accountable to defined processes.
  • Directly manage regional project engineering team; responsibility for engineering quality and profitability of projects in the region (engineering solutions, design documentation, configuration, commissioning, and training).
  • Align with BU Innovation and Sales Engineering on products, solutions, and services; provide regular feedback.
  • Track team performance to drive utilization, efficiency, quality, savings and profit; support project managers in value engineering and scope changes.
  • Translate company mission and vision into engineering deliverables.

Complexity

  • Directly manages individual contributors: Associate Design Engineers, Design Engineers, Senior Design Engineers, Solutions Architects.
  • Responsible for regional organization of 20+ associates, all supporting Media/WKP.
  • Responsible for engineering solutions and design documentation plus configuration, commissioning, and training.
  • Responsible for engineering quality and profitability of a portfolio of Media/WKP/Workplace projects in the region.

What You’ll Bring

Education & Certifications:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent required
  • Degree preferred
  • Manufacturer Certifications are highly desired

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Media/WKP systems integration
  • Knowledgeable in SMPTE 2110, IP Routing, Cloud Production, and other Media/WKP tech trends
  • Competent in Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • 10+ years extensive construction engineering experience
  • Construction Experience (skills, media/WKP, and system integration)
  • Experience leading larger teams
  • Reside in or be willing to relocate to the US-Northwest region
