The Orland Park Public Library is a vibrant and spacious community hub, serving a diverse population with a strong commitment to lifelong learning and engagement. With this newly restructured full-time position, we are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Adult Services Programming Coordinator to develop dynamic programs for our adult patrons.

Responsibilities

• Researches, plans, and evaluates events and programs (lectures, concerts, crafts, etc.) for adult library patrons in tandem with the library’s strategic plan and department goals
• Hosts and monitors programs on-site, welcomes presenters and patrons
• Liaises with presenters and vendors on contracts, forms, and invoices
• Writes program descriptions, prepares program materials, and requests social media promotion and printed promotional materials
• Assists with setting up and breaking down program spaces, including AV and other equipment

Necessary Knowledge

• Empathize and relate to patron interests and needs
• Show initiative and use good judgement in making decisions
• Familiarity with implementing and managing a budget
• Work independently and as part of a team

Schedule is 37.5 hours per week, including two evenings and occasional weekends. Salary range is $28.00-$29.20 per hour, based on skills and experience. Applicants for all positions are subject to a background check.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with experience related to job responsibilities
• Two years of library experience preferred
• Must be available nights and weekends
• Experience designing and executing programs and/or events
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
