JOB TITLE: Director of Sacred Music

The Parish of Saint Joseph, Husband of Mary, Las Vegas, Nevada is actively seeking a Director of Sacred Music for its vibrant congregation of over 5,000 families. We are a thriving faith community, with a thirty-year tradition of musical excellence nestled in the Western suburbs of our dynamic city. The Director of Music Ministry is a full-time position with benefits and a compelling, positive work environment.

Prospective Music Ministers should possess a thorough knowledge of Catholic Liturgy and Worship principles. Applicants must demonstrate a high degree of organ and piano proficiency. Experience in choral conducting and the ability to play all styles of music is required. SJHOM is blessed with a beautiful, inspiring Yamaha C7 grand piano and a four-manual Rodgers Trillium Masterpiece 1038 organ.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and audition musicians and cantors.
• Direct our outstanding adult choir and accompany children and youth choirs. Weekly adult choir practices are held September through May.
• Plan music for weekly liturgies as well as Solemnities and special events such as weddings, funerals and quinceaneras.
• Collaborate with the Pastor and other staff members.
• Coordinate ordering of hymnals (currently OCP Breaking Bread.)
• Attend weekly staff meetings, retreats, and special ministry events.

Qualifications

• Terms: Full-Time Employee
• Experience: 2-5 Years in Catholic Music Ministries
• Education: Undergraduate Degree
