Music Director Job at Anglican Church in North America in Lafayette

Anglican Church in North America, Lafayette, LA, United States, 70595

Save Job

Trinity Anglican is a growing church (ASA~75) currently expanding our sanctuary to make room for the new people God is bringing. Music is at the heart of our worship. Every Sunday we lift our voice in the great hymns of the Church, the psalms sung in metrical settings, and the best of today’s praise songs. The key verse for our music ministry comes from Ephesians 5: “Be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

We’re looking for a Music Director to help guide and grow this ministry. This is currently a part-time role, but a deeply important one. Working with our clergy and alongside our volunteer singers and musicians, the Music Director will help us choose and prepare music, rehearse together, and lead the congregation in joyful song.

What the Role Looks Like

  • Planning together: Each month you’ll meet with the clergy to plan music for the upcoming services, shaping the worship in light of Scripture and the church calendar.
  • Rehearsing together: On Friday afternoons, you’ll gather our volunteer singers and instrumentalists to prepare thoughtful arrangements for Sunday.
  • Worshiping together: On Sundays, and during special seasons like Advent, Christmas, and Holy Week, you’ll lead us in singing with skill and heart.
  • Building together: You’ll encourage, support, and develop our team of musicians, helping each person offer their gifts to the glory of God.

We Are Praying For A Music Director Who

  • Loves Jesus and loves the Church.
  • Has musical proficiency (piano or guitar especially) and confidence to lead both the ensemble and the congregation in song.
  • Appreciates a wide range of music, especially “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.”
  • Can encourage and lead volunteers with patience, joy, and clarity.
  • Wants to grow with us as our church grows.
