Overview
David Yurman is seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Director of PR and Communications to lead the brand’s press, communications, and relationships with celebrity and content creators. This role requires a senior leader to develop and execute an impactful and substantive communications strategy that elevates David Yurman’s position as a premier American luxury jewelry house. This work should drive brand desirability and demand by growing earned media value, gaining deeper storytelling exposure with high impact publications, and building a content ecosystem with artistic, elevated creators. This role oversees PR & Communications across the earned ecosystems as well as management of three tiers of VIPs and content creators.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned storyteller and relationship builder with deep experience in luxury, fashion, and celebrity culture to drive earned media impact. This candidate will have a strong ability to extract brand equity, innovation, and cultural stories to fuel brand appeal within the luxury jewelry space. The candidate will also build strong internal alliances with key stakeholders (e.g., Yurman family, Marketing Strategy, Events Marketing, Retail and WS Sales Team) and lead a team to develop and execute a clear PR strategy with focused objectives, while continually evaluating programs based on performance. The role requires driving efficiencies in focus, process, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Earned Media Strategy & Execution
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive PR / communications strategy to drive brand desirability via earned media across channels.
- Drive strategic storytelling moments that reinforce brand equity, cultural relevance, and David Yurman’s positioning as a luxury American jewelry house with 50 years of heritage.
- Champion narratives highlighting the brand’s heritage and founding by two artists, bringing forward artistic roots, New York beginnings, and craftsmanship in press and celebrity/vip relations.
- Oversee day-to-day press outreach and media relations to secure high-quality earned media placements.
- Manage and mentor internal PR team and external PR agencies to align with brand objectives.
- Ensure all earned media efforts reflect the brand’s artistry, innovation, and American luxury.
- Campaign Execution
- Lead PR initiatives supporting 360 marketing activations in collaboration with channel leads and partners.
- Monitor campaign performance and optimize strategies to achieve desired results.
- Celebrity/VIP Strategy & Partnerships
- Develop and own end-to-end strategy across three tiers (Ambassadors, Celebrities, Creators / Influencers) including contracts, budgets, deliverables, and relationships.
- Update partnership strategy to align with brand positioning and values while balancing performance.
- Identify, recruit, and cultivate relationships with talent across celebrities, VIPs, and agencies; manage contract negotiations and terms.
- Lead content briefs and collaboration with creators to maximize results while balancing deliverables; ensure concise briefs align with strategic plans.
- Lead Brand Events delivery and VIP guest lists; track results and performance of deliverables.
- Team, Cross-Functional, and Partner Relationship Management
- Develop and lead a PR team with clear roles and responsibilities; coach junior talent.
- Build strong relationships with channel partners (Media, Social, Events, Marketing Strategy) to integrate celebrity/ambassadors into campaigns.
- Foster iterative campaigns with co-creation and deep alignment.
- Work closely with the Yurmans, external agencies, Merch, Ecomm, Sales and Marketing teams to align efforts and uphold brand equity.
- Coordinate with internal creative partners to produce compelling assets tailored to channel needs.
- Develop talking points and draft materials for leadership press exposure (interviews, panels, etc.).
- Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting tracking EMV, press impressions, and influencer performance against KPIs (e.g., reach, engagement, and impact on sales).
- Extract insights, provide recommendations, and adapt strategies based on performance and market trends.
Skills
- Expertise in the earned media ecosystem including press coverage, social media, UGC, influencer marketing, influencer events, and public relations.
- Experience in luxury sectors related to fashion, hospitality, publishing, or entertainment.
- Proficiency with earned media and social analytics tools (e.g., Launchmetrics, Triad, Muck Rack, Cision, Brandwatch, Traackr).
- Proficiency in digital marketing strategies including SEO, SEM, Social Media, and Influencer Marketing.
- Strong presentation software skills to deliver impactful internal and external communications.
- Experience leading a PR team, coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (MBA, a plus).
- 10+ years of experience in Public Relations & Communications, including long lead/short lead, press relations with publications and editorial teams, agency management, and events; celebrity/VIP management or brand communications, preferably in luxury or fashion.
- Experience in PR agency environment is a plus.
- Proven success in securing top-tier press coverage and managing high-profile relationships.
Location: New York, Tribeca
Hybrid: 3 Days in the Office, 2 Remote
Compensation: $200-220k
