Overview
Librarian I - Public & Administrative Service, Northern Essex Community College (Haverhill) — Part-Time, 22.5 hours/week (Mon-Fri, 9:30 am - 2:00 pm); AFSCME Unit I. Based primarily at the Haverhill campus with periodic work at the Lawrence campus.
Responsibilities
- Order new books and materials for the library collection.
- Assist library users in utilizing library resources and services.
- Contribute to the development of library policies; maintain records and files.
- Staff the public service desk and aid students and patrons in discovery and use of materials.
- Perform library circulation services for charging and discharging materials.
- Process payments and invoices for library materials; maintain related files and records.
- Contact users regarding overdue materials and coordinate shipping/receiving with agencies as needed.
- Conduct bibliographical searching; open, sort and distribute mail; operate office and audio-visual equipment.
- Prepare and maintain reports, inventory books, file and index materials, and repair or alter library items as required.
- Type catalog cards, correspondence, reports, and forms using a library keyboard.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to gather information by examining records and documents.
- Ability to understand and apply agency procedures and guidelines governing the purchase of supplies, materials and equipment.
- Experience building and maintaining spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, including formulas.
- Demonstrated ability to provide positive customer service experiences for a diverse community.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written expression.
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population
