KING 5, TEGNA’s NBC affiliate in Seattle, is looking for an experienced Investigative MSJ/Reporter to join our national award-winning KING 5 Investigators Unit. We are looking for a candidate who produces impactful, in-depth investigative work that consistently enacts change in public policy. This Journalist will also have the opportunity to receive editorial guidance and professional development from KING 5’s News Director. This is a SAG-AFTRA union represented position. Responsibilities Pitch, develop and produce strong investigative stories for all platforms Analyze large datasets to identify insights, trends, and patterns Use open records laws, data analysis, and innovative research methods to build stories Collaborate with Producers, Editors, Photographers, and digital staff to maximize storytelling potential Support daily news when investigative skills are warranted Shoot and edit high-quality visual content Turn important follow-up stories quickly Use AI to drive efficiency and creativity Develop and maintain key sources Requirements A minimum of 8 years investigative reporting experience Exceptional organizational skills Excellent on-air presentation skills Must be a strong storyteller with the ability to make the complicated understandable Digital-first mindset with strong understanding of streaming, social platforms, and audience engagement The ability to create graphics is a plus Speaking a second language is a plus This position is part of the SAG-AFTRA bargaining unit.
