Summary: The Editorial Messaging and Positioning Writer is responsible for crafting language and stories that articulate Client Music's editorial point of view-as it's expressed on Client Music and its various marketing channels. Candidates should possess strong writing experience and a background in music. Ideal candidates will have experience editing and writing for major music media brands.
Responsibilities
• Write and edit briefs that will inform messaging and brand positioning both internally and externally, impacting the way we talk about our work cross-functionally as well as through PR and marketing.
• Utilize expert understanding of audience engagement and retention to select resonant story angles and creative approaches.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategic plans to hone storytelling and reach target audiences.
• Develop new editorial concepts and storytelling devices to engage with Client Music subscribers.
• Stay informed and across popular music and culture-its emerging trends, news, and storylines.
• Shape and convey the Client Music brand voice through written communication.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a music writer and/or editor for esteemed media brands.
• Strong understanding of narrative, storytelling techniques, and creative specifications.
• Ability to act swiftly and with agility.
• Familiarity with artists and music creator marketing strategies.
• Ability to work alongside marketing, PR, and copywriting teams.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to adhere to and be familiar with company style guides and writing standards.
• Ability to analyze data, visualize insights, and tailor communications to stakeholders with varying levels of digital media literacy.
• Extensive knowledge of music and pop culture, both current and past.
• Ability to build strong relationships within and across teams and organizations.
• Proficiency in writing using inclusive language for diverse audiences.
• Must be able to work on-site in Culver City, California at least three days/week on hybrid schedule.
