About the Job
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Manager to work in Costa Mesa, CA, to enhance our Propulsion Development team. This role is critical in developing and optimizing advanced defense systems to meet our aggressive and innovative goals.
What You’ll Do
- Own the mechanical design process of engine components
- Drive excellence in the mechanical design of engines. Evangelize and demonstrate the standard for a propulsion designer.
- Support the production of propulsion products. Partner with manufacturing to improve the yield, quality and cost of the delivered product.
- Proactively communicate to customers and cross functional leads. Inform cross functional stakeholders of upcoming changes to design.
- Grow Anduril’s propulsion design capability. Identify growth opportunities for team members. Empower engineers to continually improve their product.
- Facilitate cross functional teamwork. Work with the performance team to develop class leading turbomachinery. Work with the test team to identify issues and drive them to closure.
Required Qualifications
- BS or higher degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Experience managing engineering teams
- Experience designing mechanical parts (CAD) in NX. Understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding, castings, etc.)
- Proficient in mechanical drawings, ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
- Experience procuring parts and working in a machine shop. Working knowledge of machine safety and shop safety protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in development of advanced defense products.
- Mechanical design of components from early conceptual phase into production
- Design for volume manufacturing
- Detailed assembly stackup development
- Working knowledge of engine materials and selection
Salary and Benefits
US Salary Range: $146,000 - $194,000 USD
US Hourly Range: $146,000 - $194,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Equity grants are included in full-time offers as part of Anduril’s total compensation package.
