Role Expectations
As a Product Designer, you’ll combine your craft expertise and leadership skills with an understanding of our customers and the business to co-create innovative solutions to complex problems and influence product strategy.
Responsibilities Demonstrate a high degree of product design skill across interaction, visual and service design; inform the use of appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks and design systems; create artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs and prototypes in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
Lead design projects, direct and delegate work for more junior team members, build partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders, and mentor to mature the product design practice at Capital One.
Navigate partners’ and stakeholders’ needs using critical-thinking that factors in data, research insights, scalability and tech constraints, while maintaining customer-centered and inclusive design.
Apply business and market insights to shape product challenges and align the team and stakeholders around a shared point of view.
Utilize knowledge of tech, data capabilities and emerging technologies to move the team faster and navigate technical limitations in service of impactful solutions.
Foster collaboration across lines of business and the organization to bridge information gaps and drive product strategy.
Present work at multiple levels using a human-centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data and research insights to influence strategic decisions at senior levels.
Maintain a strong portfolio that demonstrates leadership, process, results and impact.
Basic Qualifications At least 5 years of experience in a Product Design role
At least 5 years of experience in design and prototyping tools such as Figma
Preferred Qualifications At least 6 years of experience in a Product Design role
At least 6 years of experience in design and prototyping tools such as Figma
Experience working with and contributing to an established design system
Experience collaborating with product, tech and business partners
Experience leading design projects or teams
Experience working in heavily regulated, data heavy problem spaces
This role is not eligible for sponsorship for employment authorization for new applicants.
The role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives, depending on the plan.
