What You’ll Do

  • Provide interpreting services to our diverse customer base in line with the Code of Professional Conduct and Convo values.
  • Demonstrate strict adherence to industry-wide and professional ethics at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information exchanged in an interpreting situation.
  • Observe Convo's internal policies and procedures at all times.
  • Contribute to the development and high morale of the company.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional appearance following internal guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a continuous commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Set up and use computer technology efficiently to communicate with team members and facilitate video conference interpreting.

Interpreting Settings

Convo Interpreters provide excellent ASL/English interpretation services in a variety of settings, registers, and formats, including but not limited to:

  • Video Relay Services
  • Interpreter On-Demand Services
  • On-Demand interpreting through video
  • Potential for multiple participants via video and in-room
  • Planned services (conferences and VRI) with potential for multiple participants
  • Onsite meetings (when applicable)
  • Subject matter ranging from light daily assignments to highly complex business, education, medical, marketing, technology strategies, and solutions
  • Teaming with other interpreters
  • Wide range of topics and other unique settings

Qualifications

  • Two years (minimum) consecutive experience interpreting professionally as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Expressive and receptive fluency in American Sign Language and English
  • High adaptability for working with diverse populations and various onsite, remote, and team interpreting models
  • Strong and exemplary interpersonal skills in all settings
  • Openness to providing and receiving constructive feedback, support, and mentoring professionally and positively
  • Ability to work in solitary, fast-paced environments
  • Understanding of and willingness to keep up with video technology, trends, and issues
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings
  • Basic knowledge of computer technology

Compensation

The pay range for this role varies by location and shifts:

  • 35 - 55 USD per year (Austin, Texas)
  • 35 - 55 USD per year (Jacksonville)
  • 35 - 55 USD per year (New York City)
  • 10 - 10 USD per hour (In Center Shift Differential)
