WHAT YOU WILL DO
onX is seeking a Web Software Engineer with a passion for discovering the outdoors. Your focus will be on improving our Content management solutions. You will be a part of our Content Domain team which focuses on helping acquire and managing the content we show users in our applications. This is a great opportunity to be a part of a dynamic growing company focused on making an impact on the business and our web products. This role will serve as a Web Engineer at onX and will report to an Engineering Manager.
As an onX Web Engineer, your day to day responsibilities would look like:
- Building and supporting features on our web products and internal tools - with an emphasis on content collection and review workflows
- Working on both front end web applications and backend APIs
- Participation in all planning, grooming, and work defining scrum ceremonies
- Ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
- Writing test coverage for all new features
- Participate in the creation, deployment, and management of services
- Collaborate in architectural decisions involving our services
- Exemplify onX values and a ‘Win as a Team’ attitude
- Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Supervisor
LOCATION
onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can be performed from an onX corporate office, “Basecamp,” or “Connection Hub”.
- Corporate Offices: onX was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time this is a great option.
- Basecamps: onX’s Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.
- Connection Hubs: onX’s Connection Hub locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- Four (4) or more years of professional software development experience is required focused on web client development
- Experience working with APIs - REST and GraphQL
- Experience with TypeScript and Vue.js
- Familiarity with Docker
- Web design and attuned to the fundamentals of user experience
- You have a strong computer science foundation
- You believe that your profession is a craft and you’re driven to improve every day

- Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX
ADDED BONUSES
Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:
- Experience with Go, PostgreSQL, PostGIS
- Experience with Google Cloud Project and Terraform
- Experience with React as well as Vue.js
- Experience working with Maps, GIS, or Cartography
- Experience working with a distributed/remote team
- Experience with Mapbox or MapLibre
COMPENSATION
onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $111,000 to $120,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
