Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Writer providing A&AS support to the AFLCMC/HBG C2ISR Division. The C2ISR Division supports all weapon systems, platforms, cells, and capabilities managed by the division in support of AFLCMC/HB and other classified programs designated under HBG or extensions of HB under C2ISR.

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining, analyzing, and selecting pertinent information
  • Determining the most logical and effective sequence of the narrative
  • Determining the overall length and tone based on objectives, medium, and audience
  • Writing material
  • Consulting on or selecting illustrative material
  • Preparing material for publication
  • Writing technical direction on product announcements, marketing brochures, advertisements, and marketing specifications
  • Meeting with customer representatives, vendors, system engineers, and PMs to establish technical specifications
  • Studying drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples
  • Creating user documentation for materials such as how-to guides and instruction manuals
  • Preparing charts, graphs, or forms to accompany rough drafts
  • Ensuring document contents follow required formats
  • Writing clear and concise policies and procedures
  • Ensuring consistency of wording among multiple documents
  • Creating table of contents and citing sources
  • Submitting copies to managers for feedback
  • Maintaining electronic library of signed documents and final presentations
  • Providing updates and different editions as necessary

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Top Secret Clearance

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in DoD acquisition. Or, 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications; technical writing experience within the DoD relative to information and/or business systems environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a related field and 10 years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, 5 years of which must be in DoD acquisition.

  • Ability to work well with other organizations and personnel with disparate backgrounds
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
