Responsibilities
- Tutors and instructs students and community members who need learning assistance in assigned discipline(s) and study skills.
- Provide tutoring and related services, creating an atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Deliver tutoring services at scheduled times (individual or group sessions) and maintain a weekly schedule of available hours for student appointments.
- Assist students with development of study skills necessary for post-secondary education.
- Keep regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions.
- Monitor and review student work; modify and personalize tutoring strategies for different learning styles and needs.
- Encourage students to take responsibility for their progress; facilitate the learning process.
- Interact with staff and/or faculty to obtain syllabi/materials and develop tutoring materials; deliver feedback on student progress to staff/faculty.
- Participate in ongoing professional education and training related to the subject matter.
- May assist with additional duties (e.g., covering front desk, answering phones, organizing materials, checking out resources) as needed.
- Complete and submit required documents accurately and timely; participate in departmental meetings.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent (transcripts and/or proficiency test may be required).
- Demonstrated proficiency in the assigned discipline’s subject matter.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
- Commitment to quality service to students; ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proficiency in the subject matter of the assigned discipline.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary with possible light walking, standing, bending, and carrying small items. No special physical demands required.
Work Schedule And Conditions
- Work in a climate-controlled office environment.
- Use of standard office equipment; interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
Salary
Hourly pay rate ranges from $14.42 to $28.90, dependent on education and CRLA certification level.
