How You’ll Contribute
The Director of Engineering is responsible for leadership and development of engineering associates under the Media/WKP Business Unit. The position reports to the Senior Director of Engineering. You will be accountable for the development, resourcing, implementation, and continuous improvement of the territory’s project engineering team. A thorough understanding of the construction process, systems integration, IT engineering, and architectural/construction drawings and specifications is required. You will ensure the project engineering team is aligned with client needs by partnering with Sales and PMO. You will also ensure resources are shared across the business unit and the company. This role collaborates with PMO leaders, Project Ops Leaders, and Sales Enablement leaders as part of the delivery team. You will motivate, mentor, communicate effectively, and demonstrate a strong understanding of the business.
Note : While this position is virtual day-to-day, it requires periodic travel to project sites within the US-Northwest region. Residing in – or willing to relocate to – the US-Northwest region is required.
What You’ll Do
A clear understanding of project phases: requirements gathering, conceptual designs, detailed designs, fabrication, testing, commissioning, training, and support – and leading a team through the lifecycle.
Serve as point of escalation for project engineering. Lead a team through projects that do not meet expectations and direct efforts to achieve client goals quickly.
Collaborate with sales and BU leadership to ensure engineering has the skills required to fulfill projects and delight customers.
Recruit, hire, and train resources to meet project needs.
Empower engineering associates to own client interactions and deliverables.
Contribute to the design of engineering standards and processes; implement these in collaboration with engineering teams and PMO to guarantee client satisfaction and profitable projects.
Govern standards through project audits to ensure adherence and consistency in work product.
Drive efficiency, innovation, and technology adoption in project engineering; develop standards and procedures to meet quality benchmarks.
Lead, inspire, and mentor associates; lead teams on designing and deploying $10M+ technology projects with excellence.
Visit clients and sites, develop relationships with key clients, and gather information to enhance project fulfillment.
Ensure career development and training opportunities for associates.
Break down silos and foster an inclusive, one-company mindset; facilitate resource sharing across territories and business units; ensure cross-training in necessary systems and tools.
Manage resource assignments and load balancing to cover projects; collaborate with Resource Planning/PMO to meet deadlines and minimize resource churn.
Perform risk assessment analyses and enforce defined processes.
Directly manage regional project engineering teams; ensure engineering quality and profitability of projects in the region, including engineering solutions, design documentation, configuration, commissioning, and training.
Collaborate with BU Innovation and Sales Engineering on products, solutions, and services; provide feedback on a regular cadence.
Track performance to drive utilization, efficiency, quality, savings, and profitability; support project managers in value engineering and scope changes.
Translate company mission and vision into engineering deliverables; coordinate weekly meetings, workshops, and team-building events with manufacturers and vendors.
Complexity
Directly manages individual contributors: Associate Design Engineers, Design Engineers, Senior Design Engineers, Solutions Architects.
Oversee a regional organization of 20+ associates supporting Media/WKP.
Responsible for engineering solutions, design documentation, configuration, commissioning, and training; ensure engineering quality and profitability of the portfolio within the territory.

High school Diploma or equivalent required
Degree preferred
Manufacturer Certifications highly desired
Required Skills/Qualifications
Extensive experience in Media/WKP systems integration
Knowledgeable in SMPTE 2110, IP Routing, Cloud Production, and other Media/WKP tech trends
Competent in Agile and Scrum methodologies
10+ years of extensive construction engineering experience
Construction experience (skills in media/WKP and system integration)
Experience leading larger teams
Reside in – or be willing to relocate to – the US-Northwest region
