This position will support projects primarily for Austin Energy, involving overhead and occasionally duct banks. While not heavily focused on calculations, there will be some training on AllCalc and frequent use of AutoCAD. The role involves working under the direction of Project Managers and Project Engineers. Job Title: Distribution Designer Job Description We are seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Distribution Designer/Engineer for utility scale projects focused on distribution in our Austin office. While not heavily focused on calculations, there will be some training on AllCalc and frequent use of AutoCAD. The role involves working under the direction of Project Managers and Project Engineers. Responsibilities Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling and calculations, and prepare design sketches and concept drawings. Collaborate with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop construction drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes, and project specifications. Assist with preparing cost estimates and specifications. Design electrical layouts, cable heating and sizing analysis, and overhead and underground structures. Select electrical equipment and develop bills of materials. Essential Skills 3-4 years of experience in Distribution Design. Proficiency in AutoCAD. Experience working with electric/power utility. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with Microstation, Engineering Drafting, Power Delivery, Utility Design, Civil Engineering, GIS, CAD Software, Mechanical Engineering, Power & Utilities Design, Maximo, and Power Design. Work Environment The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Initially, work is conducted in an office environment during the training period, transitioning to remote work with occasional site visits. Monthly meetings with all designers are held to ensure collaboration and communication. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
