Base pay range $32.00/hr - $35.00/hr Location Lower NYC – Hybrid (Local candidates only) Duration Contract (Potential to extend or convert; historically a full-time role) Job Description The Designer will support sport and swim categories with a focus on athleisure and loungewear-inspired apparel. While swim will be part of the role, the immediate priority will be sport SKUs for Fall/Holiday. This position works closely with senior designers and assistant designers, contributing through tech packs, CAD sketching, color work, and research. Key Responsibilities Create brand-right, commercial designs aligned with category direction and business strategy Sketch and color the line in Illustrator with speed and precision Build detailed tech packs with a focus on sport and swim construction Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Merchandising, Product Development, Color & Print, and Graphics Update and maintain accurate linesheets throughout the season Research trends and competitor products to inform design direction Present concepts and designs to the team and leadership Qualifications (Required) 4–5+ years of design experience in a comparable retail/apparel environment (associate designer level or above) Proficient in Illustrator (sketching and coloring), InDesign, and Adobe Creative Suite Strong technical knowledge of apparel construction, especially in sport, swim, or intimates Demonstrated ability to create and maintain accurate tech packs Ability to multitask and work quickly without sacrificing quality Qualifications (Desired) Bachelor’s degree in Design or related field Experience with Centric PLM Strong color point of view (portfolio should include personal work in addition to industry projects) Exposure to both sport and swim categories (personal or professional) Soft Skills Positive, collaborative, and flexible High energy with the ability to work at speed Comfortable working in hybrid environment and pivoting between priorities Negative attitude or inflexible mindset Inability to sketch quickly and accurately in Illustrator Slow pace or inability to manage multiple tasks effectively Why This Role Stands Out Work with one of the most recognized names in global fashion retail, known for its strong design culture, trend-driven product lines, and large-scale seasonal collections.
