About The Job
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Designer, Knits and Sweaters. In coordination with the Design team, this role brings the creative designs of our design and global sourcing office to life. The role requires a passionate and motivated individual, well versed in men’s apparel, fabrics, design principles, and the design, development, and sourcing processes. The ideal candidate is a passionate and highly organized individual who can thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
Responsible for the entire product design process for all private labels including trend research, sourcing raw materials, stitch development, sketching, creating design boards, tech pack development, BOMs and fit, all in collaboration with Design Director.
Understand the TBI brand aesthetics and translate it into appropriate and exclusive products.
Ensure that product is consistent with seasonal concepts and storytelling as well as business strategy and vision.
Research and source cut and sew fabric and yarn from mills keeping in mind price points, attributes, and aesthetics.
Develop seasonally appropriate stitches that align with each brand’s seasonal concepts.
Bring innovative ideas to build a strong and elevated collection and confidently present these ideas to our senior and cross-functional partners.
Know the competition, walk the floor, and anticipate the next new design/ideas
Ability to update best sellers and to reinvent next best seller product
Ensure that the product meets the price point, tells a strong merchandising story, and meets SKU requirements for each brand
Create development packages, design sketch boards and CADs of seasonal product.
Complete design technical packages and trim BOMs in Excel to develop precise and engaging proto and showroom samples.
Lead a fitting with tech design and production team with support from Design Director.
Communicate and collaborate internally with daily merchandising, product development and technical design teams as well as our partners on the TBI team.
Manage the team to make sure that all things are being executed properly and with accuracy on calendar
What You’ll Bring | Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion/Textile Design, specialization in fully fashioned sweaters preferred
7+ years fully fashioned sweater and cut and sew design experience
Expert design, technical sketch, and conceptual skills with high attention to detail
Advanced sketching skills in Illustrator
Strong sense of silhouette, color, material, trim and taste level
Full understanding of technical knitting capabilities, yarn construction, machine gauge and garment construction
Strong organizational, time management, communication, and presentation skills.
Excellent experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PLM
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage workflow in a fast-paced environment, working collaboratively to meet all deadlines
Enthusiasm for the brands and brings strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Strong presentation skills
Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
Be able to work full-time from our company's New York, NY office
Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
Regular and on-time attendance; Hours can regularly exceed 40 hours per week; Must be able to work overtime as needed
Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis
Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
Ability to perform general office administrative activities: writing, copying, filing, delivering, and using the telephone
Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment

The starting salary for this position is $106,808 – $142,355 and may increase to $177,902 depending on merit, length of service with the Company, and other factors. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
