Overview Kenai Peninsula College (KPC), in Soldotna Alaska, invites applications for the position of Instructional Designer 2. This position supports student success by facilitating the creation of engaging and accessible, high-quality distance learning. The role involves collaborating with faculty to design and enhance courses using evidence-based practices, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all learners. You will lead in-person workshops, training sessions, and drop-in labs, and provide expert support for distance and hybrid instructional technologies. Responsibilities include developing practical job aids, templates, and guides, coaching faculty on effective multimedia creation, and supporting the development of ePortfolios. Travel between KPC’s Homer and Soldotna campuses is required to facilitate workshops and consultations. As the on-site contact for Educational Technology, Innovation & Learning Design (ETILD), you will oversee equipment check-in/out, manage inventory, and foster a welcoming, service-oriented workspace. Qualifications and Desired Skills Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with digital content creation, instructional design theory, educational technology, or accessibility is highly valued. Familiarity with LMS platforms and accessibility tools. Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills; ability to learn new tools quickly and manage multiple projects. Travel between Homer and Soldotna campuses required. Employment type: full-time, non-exempt, term staff position. Salary and benefits: competitive salary and full employee benefits package, including retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and medical/dental/vision coverage. Starting salary is determined by the UA Staff Salary Schedule and education/experience.
