We're looking for a creative, data-informed storyteller to take the lead on a flagship state-based newsletter and launch a new, niche editorial product. This is a unique opportunity to shape the voice and growth strategy of email publications that blend local news, politics, and lifestyle for Wisconsin readers. You'll collaborate with editorial, marketing, and social media teams, leveraging insights and experimentation to boost engagement and build long-term audience loyalty. The role is remote but requires residency in Wisconsin.
Accountabilities:
Write, curate, and produce the daily flagship newsletter tailored to Wisconsin-based readers
Own and grow the newsletter's subscriber base using marketing strategies, A/B testing, and audience segmentation
Track and analyze audience engagement metrics to optimize content and performance
Pitch, pilot, and launch a new niche newsletter focused on a specific audience segment
Collaborate with multimedia and social teams to promote newsletters through video and visual assets
Publish third-party content to the newsroom's website and regularly update the homepage
Create basic visual assets (e.g., quote cards) using tools like Canva
Participate in network-wide editorial collaboration and best practice sharing
Requirements
3+ years of journalistic writing or editorial experience focused on Wisconsin audiences
Strong copywriting and editing skills; familiarity with AP style
Proven ability to use data (open rates, CTRs) to guide content decisions
Experience with ESPs like Mailchimp, Substack, Sailthru, or similar platforms
Proficiency with digital content creation tools such as Canva, Capcut, Descript
Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt in a fast-paced newsroom
Creative thinking paired with audience growth mindset and marketing awareness
Must be based in Wisconsin
