About the role We are hiring qualified Music Specialists to offer enrichment programming to preschool students across several campuses. This role is part-time ; the schedule will be Mon-Fri, 9:30am - 1:00pm, with options to become full-time. As our Music Specialist, you will travel to multiple Georgetown Hill locations and applicants should have reliable transportation. Locations (travel may be part of the day): Apple Ridge/Gaithersburg – Germantown, Gaithersburg, Clarksburg, Goshen Darnestown – Route 28, near Gaithersburg, Germantown, Kentlands, North Potomac North Potomac – near Route 28 and Muddy Branch Road Greenwood/Hyattsville – NAEYC-accredited, near PG Plaza (Metro Accessible) What you'll do Teach music to children ages 3-5 at various campuses using our creative, age-appropriate curriculum Maintain a consistent schedule of classroom visits in coordination with the campus director Use the music curriculum and developmentally appropriate activities to provide engaging instruction Differentiate instruction to maximize participation Provide written summaries of music instruction for families in weekly communications Supervise preschool children to ensure health, welfare, and safety Support the physical, socio-emotional, and developmental needs of each child Demonstrate effective communication with children, families, and colleagues Collaborate with other music instructors to plan activities and improve the program Maintain a safe, positive classroom environment Attend monthly meetings for progress updates and collaboration Qualifications The minimum education/certification requirements for Music Specialists are the MSDE 90-hour Preschool Certification or a CDA with the preschool endorsement. Our ideal candidate has 1-3 years of experience teaching music to preschool children and the following credentials/skills: Proficiency in at least one instrument Ability to sing in front of groups Comfort with the physical demands of a preschool setting (lifting up to 40 pounds, etc.) MSDE 90-hour certification or CDA with Preschool endorsement preferred Reliable transportation (local travel) Understanding of child development and teaching methods Proficient in productivity tools Warm, friendly demeanor; reliable attendance and punctuality Organized, able to prioritize and multi-task Team-oriented and collaborative Regulatory note: All applicants must submit to and pass a state and federal background check as a contingency of employment.
