The successful candidate will focus on local storytelling, turning enterprise stories for newscasts, following up on news tips, responding to breaking news promptly, and developing community contacts who provide tips and leadable stories for broadcast, digital and social platforms.
Responsibilities Anchor weekend evening newscasts and fill-in on other newscasts as assigned
Collaborate with producers to create an engaging newscast; write and copy edit content daily
Generate unique, compelling, and innovative story/show ideas and content
Craft creative segments and present them during newscasts
Demonstrate excellent, creative presentation and writing skills
Be strategic about the use of social media for news gathering, developing contacts, and community engagement
Contribute to multiple platforms daily (website, social media, mobile) and engage with the audience
Collaborate with a team to produce the most creative, compelling stories
Develop contacts and relationships in the community
Requirements Journalism or Mass Communication degree with at least two years of experience preferred
Strong, natural on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib
Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills
Ability to shoot and edit stories
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
