Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI), a leading power engineering consulting firm, is seeking a motivated individual to join our Cumberland, ME office as a designer. A remote/hybrid work option would be considered for applicants with extensive experience in substation design. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing design support to multiple teams involved in the conceptual, preliminary, and final design of substation and transmission line projects, ranging from 4 kV through 500 kV. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Preparing complete drawings of structures, layouts, facilities, or general arrangements, including section and detail views and profiles to clearly represent facilities. Preparing electrical single lines, AC & DC schematics, and wiring diagrams. Developing project drawings through preliminary selection of alternatives, layouts, and arrangements. Enhancing technical knowledge through collaboration with engineering departments during the execution and review of project assignments. Maintaining advanced skills through updates and upgrades of software tools. Assisting in training and skill development of less experienced drafting and design personnel. Minimum Requirements: At least 8 years of experience in electric substation design, including schematics, wiring diagrams, physical layouts, and facility design. Effective verbal and written communication skills, results-oriented, capable of completing assignments with minimal supervision. Strong work ethic with attention to detail, quality, schedule, and budget adherence. Occasional travel may be required.
