About the Job
This is a full-time, one-year temporary position.
Responsibilities:
40% Publish and maintain digital content for CTS and its programs. Update existing content and build new web pages that are attractive, accessible, and align with CTS website best practices. Use templates to format and send mass emails (e.g., event notices, newsletters). Identify digital accessibility issues, remediate problems, and propose improvements. Assist with developing and launching new website projects, including accessibility and content audits, content migration, and testing.
35% Write and edit specialized, high-impact content for websites, mass emails, event marketing materials, newsletters, and social media. Edit technical material for a lay audience, rewriting and reorganizing as needed. Interview and/or correspond with researchers, subject matter experts, and program participants. Ensure CTS and University style guidelines and standards are followed.
10% Work with the CTS digital editor to track and analyze communications metrics; provide regular updates on performance and suggest strategies for improvement. Conduct special analytics projects related to websites, mass emails, and social media platforms.
10% Provide general communications support, including photography, on-site program and event coverage, and other duties as assigned.
5% Contribute as a team member in the administration of CTS programs. Help design and implement Center-wide initiatives and special projects as needed. Contribute to the CTS Strategic Communications Plan.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
BA/BS degree in communications, English, journalism, marketing, or a related field or a combination of education and work experience to equal at least four years
Strong writing and editing skills
Excellent time management skills
Work well in a team-oriented, collaborative setting
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Google Workspace
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
Experience using a website content management system
Experience using an email management system
About the Department
The Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) conducts transportation research, education, and engagement in a broad number of areas, including transportation policy and planning, infrastructure engineering, connected and automated vehicles, and safety. These activities are carried out through relationships with University faculty, government agencies, and private industry, including an extensive advisory committee structure. An annual operating budget is provided by the state legislature to support a base level of research, education, and engagement services. This operating support is supplemented by other grants that CTS attracts.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $26.45 - $28.85 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment
