Senior Cinematographer/Editor

Hearst Magazines is looking for a Senior Cinematographer/Editor to craft visually compelling video content across fashion, beauty, pop culture, fitness, and more. This role shapes storytelling at scale across formats and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Light and shoot video content both on set and on location in a range of visual styles and editorial brands.
  • Collaborate with producers to execute creative visual direction.
  • Edit short‑form and long‑form content for YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram using Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Operate cinema and mirrorless camera systems (Sony FX3 & FX6, Panasonic EVA1, GH5).
  • Set up and run professional audio equipment including boom and lavalier microphones.
  • Coordinate with internal studio team for gear logistics and scheduling.
  • Handle basic color grading and audio mixing in post‑production.
  • Adapt to shifting schedules and priorities with flexibility; weekend work and travel required.
  • Maintain high production value while aligning with brand aesthetics.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of professional experience in cinematography and video editing.
  • Advanced technical expertise in lighting, camera operation, and video editing.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro; After Effects, Audition, and Photoshop a plus.
  • Strong visual storytelling instincts with understanding of pacing, tone, and structure.
  • Experience running small to medium crew shoots and self‑production.
  • Excellent communication and time‑management skills in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Comfortable lifting and transporting up to 50 lbs of equipment.
  • Experience in fashion or editorial environments a strong plus.
  • Reel of visual work (portfolio link required for consideration).
  • Position based in New York with a minimum of three in‑office days per week; flexible hours, including weekends and travel.

Salary: $74,000 – $89,000. Salary range subject to modification.
