Assistant Librarian -- NorthWest Arkansas Community College -- Bentonville, AR

NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) seeks two (2) collaborative and student-focused Assistant Librariansto join our management team. Reporting to the Library Director, these full-time positions lead services within a designated specialization while supporting instruction, research help, outreach, and partnerships that align library resources with college priorities.

As part of a dynamic academic library serving a growing and diverse community, the Assistant Librarian contributes to reference, instruction, and collection development work, supervises staff, and helps shape the library’s strategic direction.

  • Provide research and reference support through consultations and virtual services
  • Deliver information literacy instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats
  • Serve as faculty liaison for collection development, curricular support, and OER integration
  • Supervise assigned staff and oversee daily operations within a specialization area
  • Promote student success through user-centered library and academic support services
  • Participate in assessment, strategic planning, and policy development as part of the library management team

Specialization Areas:
We are currently recruiting for two Assistant Librarian positions: one focused on Reference & Instruction and another on Strategic Initiatives. Candidates are encouraged to indicate their preferred specialization and may be considered for both roles through a single application and interview process.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library & Information Science from an ALA-accredited program (MLIS or MLS); candidates completing the degree before start date may be considered
  • At least one year of library or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an academic or community college library
  • Demonstrated skill in teaching, reference, or user-centered service delivery
  • Supervisory experience ensuring consistent service quality across locations
  • Familiarity with library systems, databases, and discovery tools
  • Expertise in one or more specialization areas listed above

Compensation:
$51,193 annualized. Higher compensation may be considered based on directly related experience.
