Role
The Marketing Manager provides consulting, direction, and guidance on marketing and public relations efforts, as well as client experience initiatives and special events to financial advisors and the firm.
Responsibilities
Firmwide
- Co-create and implement a strategic Marketing and Media Relations Plan, complete with goals and budget, for the firm
- Deliver marketing education and training (workshops and webinars) to advisors
- Perform graphic design, including creation of invites, flyers, PowerPoint decks, and advertisements, as needed
- Provide internal writing, editing, and communication services
- Curate monthly Manager Partner newsletter for network office
- Post marketing-related content on Managing Partner’s social media
- Maintain and update website
- Monitor marketing budget for NO and facilitate budget reimbursement process with HO marketing partners
- Adhere to marketing compliance standards
- Oversee NM Digital Leads Program to drive revenue for the firm
- Liaison with headquarters marketing partners on Private Client Group work and other marketing opportunities
Marketing Engagement
- Lead Marketing Engagement Program (MEP) and Marketing Mentorship Program (MMP)
- Provide leaders and subscribers with customized coaching, consulting, strategic direction, expert guidance, and accountability on key marketing strategies and tactics
- Provide MEP subscribers with hands-on marketing services, including event logistics, ghostwriting, flyers, target market sponsorships, advertising, marketing collateral and decks, and vendor research
- Provide 1-on-1 comprehensive marketing training to MEP subscriber staff
- Oversee new subscriber onboarding experience
- Provide support on concept, planning, and execution of client experience events for advisors to strengthen client relationships and meet warm referrals
Branding and Media Relations
- Build out and promote the Northwestern Mutual brand locally to enhance awareness and receptivity within target audiences, both internally and externally
- Stay up to date on all Northwestern Mutual brand messaging and create consistency at a local level
- Execute on the nomination and pitch process of accolades and brand stories, across a range of platforms, to promote local office presence, enhance advisor visibility, and improve engagement
- Create, edit, and update select promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, monthly newsletter, and promotional videos
- Ghostwrite select articles for publication, as well as select social media posts
- Curate quarterly social media and website suggested content for all advisors
- Work with recruiting team on creation of recruiting collateral and branding the NM career opportunity
- Liaison with Home Office marketing partners on public relations efforts for advisors and firm
Results
- Network Office: Drive revenue to firm through MEP subscriber fees
- Marketing Engagement: Drive advisor growth in Premium, FYC, New Clients, and GDC
- Branding and Media Relations: Secure media placements for NO and/or advisors
Remuneration
Salary with bonus structure tied to results
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field preferred
- 5+ years of marketing experience preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications
- Experience with website design
- Experience with graphic design (Canva, Adobe applications)
- Experience with branding and public relations
- Digital media expertise including content development (LinkedIn) Facebook, Instagram, X)
- Financial Services or Insurance Industry experience preferred
- Life and Health licensed or obtained within six months of employment
