About the Team

You'll join a newsroom that helps people understand how money moves the world – and how to make smarter decisions about it. You'll write accessible, impactful daily stories and craft enterprise features that anticipate or explain major technological and investing trends. You will be part of a small, collaborative team of writers, and report to MarketWatch's technology editor.

About the Role

MarketWatch is seeking an ambitious reporter to join its burgeoning technology team to cover the business of tech – from the numbers that move markets to the strategies shaping the future.

You'll cover some of the buzziest names in the sector through a financial lens, translating corporate earnings, stock‑price moves and C‑suite strategy into what it means for an audience of money‑curious readers, budding traders and investors.

You will break news and you'll break news down into what it all means for the economy and consumers at large. You will deliver smart, accessible analysis on AI trends and developments in chips, software and fintech, with a particular focus on how these companies make money, spend it and attempt to grow.

You will publish articles on earnings and stock performance, but you'll also report on the ways these companies and the technologies they create are impacting consumers. This reporter will be responsible for talking to investment managers, technologists and privacy advocates to unearth the next big trend.

The ideal candidate has a background in financial journalism, with a strong understanding of corporate filings, capital markets and business strategy.

A curiosity about how tech is reshaping work, life and investing – and a desire to distill those tectonic shifts for a broader audience – is crucial for this role. You'll also be comfortable going beyond the daily news cycle to develop original enterprise work that helps readers understand not just what's happening but why – and why it matters.

Candidates should have experience with technology and markets reporting. The role will be based in New York.
