Diversity Scholars Predoctoral Fellowships
The Provost’s Office at Ithaca College invites applications for Diversity Scholars Predoctoral Fellowships. The Fellowships are for the academic year August 16, 2026 – May 31, 2027 and are non‑renewable. Scholars will receive a $43,260 stipend, $5,000 in travel and professional development support, relocation reimbursement, office space, health benefits, and access to Ithaca College and Cornell University libraries.
Responsibilities
- Teach one course in the fall semester and one course in the spring semester.
- Receive teaching‑focused mentoring and professional development from senior faculty.
- Participate in one official function per semester.
- Complete an exit interview.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in an accredited Ph.D. program leading to a Ph.D. degree at a U.S. institution.
- Display evidence of a commitment to a career in teaching at the college or university level.
- Demonstrate a dedication to equitable classroom practices.
- Display evidence of a scholarly agenda.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Have demonstrated a commitment to minoritized communities in teaching, service, and/or research (strongly encouraged).
- By August 15, 2026, be advanced to candidacy at your home institution, with an approved dissertation proposal.
- Preference for those in the last year of dissertation writing and who have not completed most of their writing at the beginning of the fellowship year.
Application Instructions
- Apply online and include an unofficial transcript from an accredited Ph.D.‑granting institution.
- Provide a cover letter detailing your teaching pedagogy, interest in a career in teaching, description of your research agenda, a timeline for finishing the dissertation, and how you will contribute to the curriculum of the chosen department.
- Submit a CV.
- Submit a syllabus for a course you propose to teach.
- Provide contact information for two references.
- Applications must be received by November 10, 2025.

Union and Employment
All bargaining unit faculty members are covered by the collective bargaining agreement between Ithaca College and Services Employees International Union, Local 200. Successful candidates will be required to meet with union leadership prior to their first day.
