Medical Office Assistant
This position is accountable for providing optimal telephonic service delivery and represents the "front door" to UI Health. The Medical Office Assistant serves as the first and lasting impression of the UI Health customer experience and is responsible for serving as a liaison supporting UI Health patients and providers with key operator and page services for patients, families, guests, physicians, and employees. Duties & Responsibilities: Manages all inbound "Operator" calls from patients, providers, families, employees and the general public to UI Health. Responsible for managing all Number One medical emergency pages for the entire UI Health enterprise with urgency, precision and accuracy including the page alerts for non-medical emergencies for fire and other natural disasters. Performs essential physician pages by working in tandem with UI Health Clinical Departments and page holder's instructions. Knowledge of the UI Health policies and procedures related to Physician Paging and afterhours protocols for paging of physicians that are listed for after hours and ON CALL. Conducts basic assessment of the service request from UI Health patients, community and employees, identifies the appropriate action and accountable for providing optimal service delivery as instructed. Serve as an essential resource between the various UI Health departments, services and staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year including Holidays. Provides patient related telephone support functions and non-clinical telephone support functions for UI Health. Responsible for maintaining the strictest confidentiality with patient information in accordance with the UI Health Privacy policy. Serve as a public relations agent for UI Health in every telephone interaction. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
