Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, inclusive creative arts programming to patients, families, and hospital staff
  • Use art to support emotional well‑being, communication, and expression in diverse clinical environments
  • Build rapport with individuals from varied backgrounds, ages, and abilities
  • Adapt artistic interactions based on the patient’s mood, condition, environment, and energy
  • Collaborate as a valued member of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and creative problem‑solving in all patient interactions

Qualifications

Experience Requirements

  • At least one year of experience working in a healthcare setting or equivalent understanding of clinical environments

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a creative arts field (e.g., visual arts, music, theater, writing)

OR

  • Demonstrated professional experience as a practicing artist

Special Skills & Requirements

  • Completion of a training program related to your artistic discipline
  • Ability to prioritize the needs of the patient over personal artistic expression
  • Sensitivity to cultural values, ethnic differences, and various physical or emotional states
  • Strong verbal communication skills and an approachable, engaging demeanor
  • Emotional resilience and ability to handle rejection or difficult interactions with grace
  • Creativity in adapting art activities for all levels of ability and engagement
