Compensation: $14–$16/hour, based on qualifications and experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you passionate about connecting people to information and promoting the value of library services? The Stark County Law Library is seeking a proactive Library Assistant to support both day-to-day library operations and outreach efforts. This role requires strong customer service orientation, excellent communication skills, comfort with digital tools, and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a small, collaborative setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Patron Assistance and Customer Service
- Serve as point of contact for patrons, offering guidance on library resources and services.
- Perform advanced searches in the library’s databases and online catalog to assist patrons.
- Handle circulation tasks: checkouts, returns, payments, registering new patrons, updating membership data, printing bills, answering phones, responding to email inquiries and generating usage statistics.
- Manage membership records by entering new information and processing payments.
- Ensure the library remains well‑stocked and orderly.
Marketing & Outreach
- Create engaging content for social media campaigns to promote library resources to Stark County and the broader legal community.
- Produce and distribute the monthly library newsletter (print and digital), ensuring engaging content and professional layout.
- Collaborate on marketing strategies, materials, and outreach efforts.
Perform other tasks assigned by the Director to support overall library operations and outreach efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred
- Library experience with emphasis on customer service.
- Familiarity with digital marketing tools (Constant Contact, Canva, etc.).
- Social media management skills and website maintenance experience.
Required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively in a small team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity or willingness to learn legal research and marketing tools and library systems.
