Position Details

  • Department: Instructional Services
  • Reports To: Principal
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Terms of Employment: 7 Hours/185 Days (Full‑time)

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least 60 semester hours at an accredited institution; or an associate degree (or higher).
  • Passing score of 456 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Current government‑issued identification.
  • Personal computer literacy (word processing, email, spreadsheets, electronic file management, reporting software).

Essential Functions

  • Supports and upholds the district’s mission, vision and strategic goals.
  • Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive learning environment.
  • Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality of employee and student information.
  • Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions.
  • Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities; performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

When In a Classroom

  • Provides instruction as directed by the teacher’s lesson plans.
  • Lectures, demonstrates and uses technology teaching aids.
  • Maintains order in the classroom; supervises student activities.
  • Refers students with discipline problems to appropriate administration.
  • Assists teachers with primary academic instruction and classroom activities.
  • Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans, Individualized Education Plans.
  • Provides basic first aid needs of students.

When In a Library

  • Maintains and updates computerized inventory of library holdings and patron information.
  • Prepares and processes orders, reports, bibliographies, and library schedules.
  • Assists with book orders and receives books selected for purchase by the school librarian.
  • Prepares and issues overdue notices; receives payments for overdue, lost or damaged materials.
  • Performs general library duties: cataloging, checking materials in and out, shelving, weeding, mending, preparing displays.
  • Assists school librarian in managing students and classes while in the library.
  • Assists in conducting an annual physical inventory of library materials.
  • Maintains neatness and cleanliness of the library.
