Assistant Professor of Music/Music Education (Tenure-Eligible)
University of Arizona – Tucson, AZ
PhD in Music/Music Education or a closely related discipline and experience teaching courses in Youth Music Education and student‑teacher preparation are required. Preferred qualifications include a record of scholarly publications, demonstrated teaching experience at the university level, and successful grant writing.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary/youth methods, qualitative research, and preparation of student teachers.
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive music curriculum, including online and digital components.
- Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate research, including theses and dissertations.
- Maintain a record of scholarly activity through publications, presentations, and leadership in the music education community.
- Participate in graduate student committees, school committees, and community outreach activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Expertise in Youth Music Education, elementary general music methods and approaches (Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze, Suzuki), qualitative research, grant writing, and musicianship development.
- Ability to design curriculum and teach at all levels, including online instruction.
