Photo Studio Manager
STARK is seeking an experienced Photo Studio Manager. The Photo Studio Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the photography studio which supports ecommerce, ensuring all shoots are executed smoothly, on time, and to brand standards. This role requires strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, combined with deep photography knowledge and the ability to balance creative excellence with operational efficiency.

Studio Operations
- Manage scheduling of all photo and video shoots, ensuring proper allocation of time and resources.
- Coordinate studio resources, including studio space, lighting setups, camera gear, and digital equipment.
- Maintain all studio equipment, ensuring cameras, lenses, lighting, and capture stations are calibrated and in optimal condition.
- Troubleshoot technical issues during shoots, providing hands-on support to ensure uninterrupted production.
Team & Talent Management
- Supervise a small in-house team of photographers, retouchers and photo assistants.
- Recruit, onboard, and schedule freelance photographers, stylists, and studio crew as needed.
- Provide guidance on photographic best practices, lighting techniques, and workflow optimization.
- Mentor team members, ensuring alignment with brand aesthetics and industry-leading standards.
Production Oversight
- Partners directly with warehouse operations, product and QC teams to ensure product color match and accuracy of product representation in photography.
- Partner with creative, merchandising, and marketing teams to understand shoot objectives and translate them into actionable shot lists.
- Manage shoot pre-production, including casting, set design, props, and wardrobe coordination.
- Oversee on-set flow, directing teams to achieve accurate styling, consistent lighting, and technically sound imagery.
- Ensure color accuracy and composition consistency across all deliverables.
- Oversee the retouching process, setting expectations for turnaround times and quality standards.
- Review final images for technical excellence (exposure, focus, color correction) and brand consistency.
- Manage file organization, naming conventions, and delivery of assets across platforms.
- Maintain an easily accessible archive of imagery for cross-functional use.
Budget & Reporting
- Track and manage studio expenses, freelance budgets, and vendor invoices.
- Negotiate with rental houses and vendors for cost-effective access to high-quality equipment.
- Report on studio productivity, output, and operational improvements with a focus on image quality.
Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in photo studio management, commercial photography, or production.
- Strong technical understanding of photography workflows, lighting, color management, and digital capture systems (Capture One, tethering workflows, etc.).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom) and digital asset management platforms.
- Experience with both natural and studio lighting techniques, plus knowledge of current photography trends and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and visually demanding environment.
