Position Information: The Working Title is a consultant for the Department of Learning PLUS. The work schedule is approximately 10 hours per week, not to conflict with the consultant’s class schedule, depending on consultant availability and Writing Center needs.

Job Responsibilities: Be a consultant for NKU students on written assignments for any course. Discuss assignment instructions, rhetorical situation, purpose and thesis; develop goals for session with the student; provide reader response to student’s work. Primary Responsibilities include tutoring NKU students who request assistance in improving their writing skills on specific writing assignments and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications: Writing Center consultants must carry 6 or more semester credit hours during time of employment (3 credit hours for graduate students); have a GPA of 3.50 or higher; have 30 or more undergraduate semester credit hours earned including ENG 101 & ENG 102/291W or HNR 101 & 102 or equivalent; have excellent writing and oral communication skills; and have a faculty recommendation (not required at time of application).

Requirements: Minimum Education is Some College. Pay Rate is $10 per hour for undergrads and $12.50 per hour for grads. Candidates must be available for weekly mandatory trainings on Fridays at 3:00 pm. Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to go through a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
