Description Location: Clarksville, TN Job Type: Full-Time | Hourly | Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM - 4PM, some evenings and weekends as needed for events About Us Progressive Directions, Inc. (PDI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through innovative programs and community partnerships. We promote independence, dignity, and inclusion across all our services and subsidiaries, including Common Ground Café, Buddy Ball Special Needs Athletic League, and PDI Thrift Store. Position Summary We are seeking a creative, outgoing, and organized PR Specialist / Community Engagement Specialist to join our Public Relations team. This role combines content creation, marketing, event planning, social media management, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping others by engaging our community, staff, and the people we support through creating positive experiences and content. Key Responsibilities Social Media Management: Create and manage social media content for multiple channels. Monitor social media activity and engage with followers. Maintain a proactive social media posting calendar. Content Creation: Create engaging and informative digital and print marketing content for multiple departments and subsidiaries that aligns with the organization’s mission. Shoot and edit quality videos and photos to feature our events, programs, and human-interest stories. Design graphics for digital and print materials. Write and copyedit for various platforms, including social media, web, brochures, press releases, and newsletters. Ensure consistency of brand, mission, and messaging across platforms. Community Engagement (Internal and External): Assist with employee, client, and community engagement initiatives. Collaborate with the PR team to plan multiple annual events. Prepare for and attend company and community events as needed. Develop positive relationships and engage with clients and staff members to foster a collaborative environment. Establish positive relationships with community leaders, civic organizations, and local businesses. Collaboration: Collaborate on ideas to promote all PDI programs, including Common Ground Café, Buddy Ball Special Needs Athletic League, and PDI Thrift Store. Work cross-functionally with PDI teams to meet project goals. Research and Administrative Duties as Assigned: Follow media coverage of PDI and its programs. Conduct research to identify relevant topics and trends. Research tools for department process improvements. Create and update event budgets, Buddy Ball rosters, email lists, and other relevant event materials. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year of experience in social media management, public relations, nonprofit, marketing, photography, and/or video production, event planning, or a similar field required. Proficiency in social media platforms. Experience in photography and videography preferred. Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar preferred. Experience in fundraising is a plus. SKILLS: Ability to write clear, concise, engaging content. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong visual, storytelling, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines. Ability to think creatively and strategically. Strong problem-solving abilities. Adapts to trends and changing technologies. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid Driver’s License.
