Software Architect – Audio and Multimedia

MediaTek’s Intelligent Software Development Business Unit is hiring a Software Architect for Audio and Multimedia.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable software architectures for low‑level audio components in CPU, DSP, and realtime cores, enabling sound preprocessing, post‑processing, equalization, spatial audio, safety audio and audio algorithms.
• Collaborate with 3rd‑party audio algorithm teams, DSP frameworks, and audio hardware IP providers.
• Conduct platform audio feature analyses, compare with state‑of‑the‑art techniques, and propose improvements to product management.
• Work with Silicon and Software engineering teams in HQ (Taiwan) to create groundbreaking audio automotive system solutions.
• Present and articulate system‑level solutions for automotive OEMs and Tier‑1 suppliers.
• Develop the audio technology roadmap and ecosystem integration strategies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and a minimum of 10 years of overall software engineering experience, including 4 years directly related to this role.
• Relevant industry experience launching vehicle audio features in infotainment and safety‑critical domains.
• Strong knowledge of the Android Audio Framework, audio policy manager, audio flinger, Audio HAL, media server, audio server & Tiny ALSA.
• In‑depth design knowledge of audio routing, active noise cancellation, voice assistance, AVAS, surround sound, audio codecs, e‑AVB, etc.
• Hands‑on experience with TDM, I2S, I2C, A2B driver, Class D/AB amplifier drivers and SPI protocols & interfacing/analysis techniques.
• Proficient in Android Auto and CarPlay certifications for audio playback & capture.
• Experience with automotive functional safety (ISO 26262) and security standard (ISO 21434).
• Good to have knowledge of creating proposals, detailed SW architecture, requirements, and design documents.

Pay Range and Compensation Package

Base Salary range: $180,000‑$300,000. Employee may be eligible for a performance bonus, short‑ and long‑term incentive programs. Actual total compensation will depend on the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.
