Senior Apparel Designer – Intimates & Sleepwear (Contract)
Location: New York, NY
Type: 3-Month W2 Contract
Compensation: $38–$48/hour (depending on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Apparel Designer – Intimates & Sleepwear to join a leading fashion and retail brand on a 3-month W2 contract. This role is creative at its core, with a focus on developing commercially viable, trend-driven designs across bras, panties, sleep, and loungewear. In addition to strong design vision, the role requires excellent technical execution skills in CAD illustration, Tech Pack creation, and PLM systems to ensure flawless product delivery.
Responsibilities
Create brand-right, commercial designs that align with conceptual direction and business strategy.
Develop seasonal product lines with emphasis on style, fit, and fabric.
Translate fashion trends and consumer insights into compelling, brand-right designs.
Present designs to leadership and cross-functional partners; adapt concepts based on feedback.
Collaborate with Merchandising, Marketing, and Product Development teams throughout the design process.
Manage, inspire, and develop junior design talent.
Execute design sketches, prototypes, and technical specifications with precision and speed.
Conduct competitor research and trend analysis to inform designs.
Ensure projects meet deadlines and budget requirements without compromising design excellence.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of apparel design experience in a comparable retail environment.
Strong CAD illustration skills and proficiency in creating Tech Packs.
Experience with Centric PLM (or similar systems).
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
Strong communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to thrive under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and develop junior design talent.
