Primary Objective

Lawrence University is seeking a Videographer/Photographer who will create and produce high-quality visual content for Lawrence University. This individual will collaborate closely with others in the Communications and Marketing team, various campus partners, and cross-functional teams, including leading contractors and supervising student workers, to create compelling content that supports institutional priorities and drives measurable impact. The role requires creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Capture and produce video and photo content for high-profile projects within the Office of Communications and Marketing, including but not limited to promotional campaigns, events, faculty/alumni profiles, student profiles, and digital and social media platforms.
  • Edit photos and videos, including color correction, sound mixing, motion graphics, and final cuts, maintaining consistency with the university’s brand.
  • Manage multiple projects from concept to delivery, meeting deadlines while delivering high standards of quality.
  • Capture high-quality photos and videos at university events, such as commencement, alumni gatherings, and campus activities.
  • Lead and coordinate the work of contractors and supervise student workers in support of video/photo production to deliver high-quality and timely output.
  • Stay current with current multimedia trends and best practices so that the university’s multimedia projects reflect current digital trends, provide an engaging user experience, and capitalize on best practices.
  • Maintain and properly care for photography and videography equipment.

Knowledge And Skills Required

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Videography, Film, Multimedia, or a related field. At least two years of professional experience in video and photo production.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom), Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve. Experience with DSLR cameras and other professional video equipment.
  • Creative Skills: Strong knowledge of lighting, composition, and audio for video production.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience leading or supervising contractors and students, with an ability to guide team efforts and maintain a high standard of work.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with live-streaming events and FAA drone certification is a plus.

Employment Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and work in varied weather conditions.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
