Be among the first 25 applicants. STAND 8 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Video Streaming) to support a critical transition for a global Media & Entertainment client. We are migrating from a legacy custom‑built video processing pipeline to a modern, cloud‑based infrastructure using Dolby Hybrik or AWS Elemental. This hands‑on, high‑impact role focuses on ensuring uninterrupted video delivery across VOD, AVOD, and Live workflows during the migration.

Responsibilities
- Provide operational support and troubleshooting for our custom video encoding/transcoding pipeline (FFmpeg, GStreamer, or similar).
- Monitor and maintain live and VOD video delivery workflows, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Write scripts (Python, Shell) to automate encoding jobs, monitoring, and system tasks.
- Collaborate with the existing engineer to document workflows, build playbooks, and improve observability.
- Assist in incident response and root cause analysis for video delivery issues.
- Support the migration to a cloud‑based platform (Dolby Hybrik or AWS Elemental).
- Contribute to the development of microservices for video ingestion, packaging, and validation.
- Ensure compatibility with ad workflows and playback standards (HLS, DASH, CMAF).
- Partner with QA to automate validation and content readiness checks.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on video systems or backend infrastructure.
- Strong experience with FFmpeg, GStreamer, or similar encoding/transcoding tools.
- Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting.
- Solid understanding of AWS services (S3, EC2, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Familiarity with streaming protocols and manifest formats (HLS, DASH, CMAF).
- Experience with incident response, monitoring, and observability tools.
- Ability to work in a bespoke system with limited documentation and high ambiguity.
- Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
- Proactive, self‑directed, and comfortable working in fast‑paced environments.
- Passion for video technology and a desire to stay current with evolving standards.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment aligned to the Eastern Time Zone.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in scripting or additional languages such as C, C++, Bash.
- Experience with DRM, encryption, and secure video delivery.
- Familiarity with Dolby Hybrik or AWS Elemental.
- Familiarity with MediaConvert/MediaPackage.
- Background in media operations, DevOps, or platform reliability.

Additional Details
The base salary range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00 / hour depending on experience. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, with individual pay influenced by experience and job‑related skills.
