Smoothstack is hiring: Technical Writer in Manassas

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer / Knowledge Specialist to join our team in Manassas, Virginia on a six-month contract.

In this role, you will create, manage, and improve user-centered content that supports the adoption and usability of client’s products and services. You’ll collaborate closely with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technical content in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain user-centric knowledge assets.
• Deliver high-quality, structured content that aligns with user needs, product goals, and the customer journey.
• Collaborate with SMEs to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
• Ensure content development is transparent, traceable, and aligned with security and governance best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) – Guides and Assets.
• Proficiency with DITA XML and structured authoring.
• Excellent English writing and editing skills (native or near-native level).
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, or a related computing/technology field.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile development environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience creating documentation for technical, legal, or financial products.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enthusiastic about learning new technologies and systems.

Work Arrangement

• Hybrid role – Must be able to commute to Manassas, VA at least 2 days per week.
